Exceeding Boundaries Breakfast
The NSCD Exceeding Boundaries Breakfast raises awareness for therapeutic recreation and adaptive sports while honoring those that help make a difference in our sports community. The 2016 event was hosted by Susie Wargin and featured keynote speaker John Register. From All-American track star to amputee to Paralympic medalist, John Register has never allowed adversity hold him back. He hurdled his adversity in leaps and bounds, and challenges his audiences to do the same as they create their new normal. He is the Associate Director for Community and Veterans Programs for U.S. Paralympics. Our 2017 Host and Keynote Speaker are TBD.
The NSCD honors those who make a difference in our community through sports and recreation by presenting four awards:
Bold Tracks Award – The award was created to recognize prominent leaders in the community and to commend them for their support of recreational activities for individuals with disabilities.
Outrigger Award – The Outrigger Award, created in 2003, recognizes an individual who has displayed a lengthy and loyal commitment to the NSCD. Award participants serve as an inspiration to the disabled community and barrier free movement through dedication and service.
Athlete of the Year – Recognizing the athlete who has excelled in sportsmanship, dedication and perseverance.
Volunteer of the Year – Recognizing the volunteer who has been extraordinary in supporting the NSCD.
