Adaptive Alpine Ski, Snowboard and Ski Bike Lessons

At the NSCD, we provide private lessons with highly trained adaptive instructors. Lessons are tailored to meet the needs or goals of each participant. Lessons are available for Two-track, Three-track, Four-track, Slider Ski, Ski Bike, Mono-ski, Dual-Ski, Bi-ski and Snowboard.

Full and half day lessons are available.

Family lessons provide an opportunity for a parent or adult to learn proper techniques for assisting the family member with special needs while on the slopes. Family member must be a proficient and independent skier with a higher ski level ability than the participant. One adult member with the participant maximum. Please call (970) 726-1518 for more information.

To obtain a discounted Season Pass, medical documentation is required each ski season. For more information about discounted season pass,  please contact NSCD reservation at 970.726.1518 before you arrive at Winter Park Resort.

Location: Winter Park Resort
Time: Full day lessons meet at 9 am, break for lunch from 12:00 pm -1:00 pm, and end by 4:00 pm.  We do not provide lunch or supervision during lunch.
Half-day morning lessons meet at 9:00 am and end by 12:00 pm.  Half-day afternoon lessons meet at 1:00 pm and end by 4:00 pm.

At the NSCD, we also offer a sensory-friendly alternative to downhill skiing. We can accommodate stand and sit skiers with our cross-county program. Family lessons are also available.

Group Weekly Programs

Alpine Ski and Snowboard for Groups
Cross-Country Skiing and Snowshoeing for Groups

Do you have a group that wants to come learn how to ski, ride, snowshoe or cross country together? Groups of five or more are welcome to join the NSCD for our weekly group programs, which run Monday through Sunday. We offer two sessions over the winter, and each session is 5 weeks long. Space is limited and fills up fast. Not open to individual reservations.

Friday Fun Club

friday_club_webWinter fun club for Grand County residents 5 years or older. Join the NSCD for a variety of activities with this five week program. Possible activities include alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, bowling, curling and more.

Bridge Program

The NSCD Bridge Program is designed to:

  • Assist an athlete’s transition from recreational skiing to race training with the NSCD Competition Program with coaching from past Paralympic athletes
  • Support an athlete development program that will potentially feed the NSCD and US Adaptive Ski or Snowboard Teams
  • Assist an athlete’s transition to full independence so they may enjoy the hill with their loved ones

Includes: Winter Park season pass and instruction

Grand County Special Olympics

SO_webJoin the Grand County Special Olympics Team and have fun training for alpine or cross-country ski racing. Train at Winter Park Resort. Competitions are held at other resorts in Colorado. For the Grand County Residents Team please contact NSCD reservations directly at 970-726-1518.

Athletes must sign up here with Special Olympics to compete.

Special Olympics Race Camp Weekend

International Women’s Snowsports WeekInternational Women's Camp

Connect with other women with disabilities by joining the NSCD for seven-days and eight-nights of alpine skiing, dogsledding, cross-country skiing, tubing and much more at the event that will be the highlight of your year! This trip is all inclusive, from the time we pick you up at Denver International Airport until drop-off day – lodging, meals, ground transportation, and activity fees. Shopping and airfare not included! All participants must be independent in self-care or bring a care provider. Friends are welcome to join!

Female family members or friends without disabilities are welcome to join the group with each woman with a disability. Each additional person will pay the fee cited below.

Alpine Ski Race Camp for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities

Alpine skiers with intellectual disabilities who already race or who aspire to join the circuit are invited to this exciting on-snow training camp hosted by NSCD at Timberline Ski Area on spectacular Mt. Hood in Oregon. The fun six-day/seven-night session will provide the opportunity for participants to increase their skill levels on skis and in the course, engage in social activities with other participants and coaches and learn more about applying these skills to their daily lives. Daily schedules include meals together, morning on-snow ski sessions, afternoon off-snow group activities and early evening gatherings. Participants must be independent in daily living skills, be able to safely ski blue rated terrain using parallel turns and be able to participate in group activities. 29th International Congress on Adapted Snowsports

A special on-snow and indoor training hosted by NSCD at Timberline Ski Area on spectacular Mt. Hood in Oregon that draws professional and volunteer instructors of all levels from across the USA and world to ski and ride, laugh and learn. Session topics include alpine skiing, race coaching, snowboarding, adaptive disciplines and much more. Limited registration of 24 participants provides an opportunity to meet new people, learn about different programs, policies, techniques and return home with valuable contacts in the adapted snowsports industry.
