River Rafting Program: Volunteers are needed to drive NSCD vehicles filled with gear and participants to the Colorado River in Kremmling. After dropping off at the launch site, van drivers usually spend their day relaxing in the sun and ensuring the NSCD van is safe and ready to pick up staff and participants down the river. This is a great opportunity to fish or read a book by the water! Volunteers typically meet NSCD staff at Winter Park Resort at 7:00 a.m. and return at 5:00 p.m.
Therapeutic Horseback Riding (THR) Program: On select weekdays, the NSCD operates a shuttle from the Denver metro area to transport volunteers to the THR Center in Granby (about 10 minutes west of Winter Park Resort). Van drivers can then assist with the THR Program, or hang out by the river or in town until volunteers are ready to go back to Denver.
Ski Van: Volunteer drivers are needed January through March to transport participants from Denver to Winter Park Resort for their lesson with the NSCD. Volunteers can assist with adaptive ski and ride programs (if they’ve attended the required training), ski at the resort, etc. until the bus starts its journey back to Denver at approximately 3:00 p.m.
