Adaptive Horseback Riding Programs for People with Disabilities

Whether you’re new to riding or building your skills, our adaptive horseback riding program provides individualized instruction in a supportive environment.

Participants build confidence, independence, and horsemanship skills while enjoying time with horses.

Participant Info:

  • Ages 4+
  • Open to a variety of skill and ability levels with no prior experience needed
  • Adaptive equipment available
  • Maximum rider weight is 200lbs
  • Independent self-care or caregiver support is required

HORSEBACK RIDING ACTIVITIES

  • An NSCD participant rides a horse during an adaptive horseback riding lesson while instructors and volunteers provide support in an outdoor arena with mountain views in the background.

    Private Lessons

    Ages 4+ | Lessons are tailored to each rider’s abilities and goals. More independent riders may focus on skills such as steering, stopping, trotting, and cantering, while games and activities support coordination and horsemanship development.

    Unmounted / Ground Lessons

    Ages 4+ | Through grooming, groundwork, and hands-on horse interactions, participants build confidence, leadership, and horsemanship skills from the ground.

    Rodeo Ready

    Ages 4+ | This program is designed for experienced riders looking to advance their horsemanship skills and build greater independence in the saddle.

    Horseback Riding Camp

    Ages 4+ | Join us for a 3-day camp where participants learn to groom, tack, and ride horses while enjoying activities like archery, disc golf, crafts, and more in a fun and supportive environment.
