The WFSC is the signature fundraiser for the NSCD, bringing in nearly $300,000 to support adaptive outdoor recreation summer and winter programs for children and adults living with physical, intellectual, emotional and behavioral disabilities.

Due to COVID restrictions, the NSCD will not be hosting its annual Wells Fargo Ski Cup and has pivoted with this month-long vertical feet challenge where both individuals and corporations can participate and help raise funds for the organization.

This event is the largest fundraiser for the NSCD, bringing in more than $250,000 to support therapeutic recreation summer and winter programs for children and adults with cognitive and/or physical disabilities. This year more than 10 NSCD competition athletes, who will compete in Pyeongchang, South Korea for the U.S. Winter Paralympic team, will compete at the WFSC including: Alana Nichols, Jasmin Bamber and Tyler Carter.
The NSCD to Host 6th Annual Paralympic Experience for Military Veterans with Disabilities with AT&T grant funding

The National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) will host more than 50 Colorado veteran recreational athletes at the 6th Annual NSCD Paralympic Experience for Veterans. Participants are individual veterans and veterans from the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System. The event is funded by a grant and free to all veterans.

New Belgium Brewing’s Citradelic Live Event at Winter Park to Raise Money for The National Sports Center for the Disabled

It’s going to be quite the birthday bash! In honor of Mary Jane’s birthday weekend, New Belgium is hosting Citradelic Live, a concert experience with Smallpools to benefit the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD). The event takes place on Friday, January 27, in front of West Portal. Tickets cost just $10, with 50 percent of proceeds going to the NSCD and 100 percent of silent auction proceeds benefiting the organization. Auction items will include custom Meier Skis, a Simms snowboard package, and schwag from New Belgium and Winter Park Resort. Mary Jane is one of the ski industry’s most iconic areas, known for its exhilarating moguls and tree-skiing.
Colorado Sports Hall of Fame Honors Miller, Simpson, Coburn, MacIntyre & Rondeau

At a meeting on Tuesday, the Selection Committee of the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame named Miller the Male Athlete of the Year for 2016 and Simpson and Coburn the co-Female Athletes of the Year. MacIntyre, the near-unanimous national college football coach of the year who led CU to its first winning record in more than a decade, was selected King of the Hill. The Selection Committee also picked Colorado collegiate standouts Justin Dvorak (Colorado School of Mines football) and Ellen Nystrom (Colorado State basketball), along with high school honorees Dylan McCaffrey (Valor Christian football) and Brie Oakley (Grandview runner) as athletes of the year. Joy Rondeau (Nordic skier from Granby) is the recipient of the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame’s 2016 Athlete with Disabilities Award.

The National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) announced today that one of their distinguished athletes, Joy Rondeau, has been named to the 2016-17 U.S. Paralympics Nordic Skiing National Development Team. Rondeau, who is a Colorado native from Granby, has been training with the NSCD competitive Nordic/Biathlon program for nearly two years under the direction of Shawn School and Mark Birdseye on a year-round basis.

The Brown Palace Hotel and Spa will host its 27th annual Champagne Cascade on Sunday, November 23rd at noon, when a master swordsman will use a Napoleonic saber to sever the bottle necks of Moet & Chandon Champagne bottles that will be poured into the uppermost glass of a two-story, 6,000-glass pyramid, overflowing to the glasses below.
