Join the NSCD for our adventurous camps in Colorado’s Front Range or the beautiful Rocky Mountains to experience a wide variety of sports and recreation including horseback riding, whitewater rafting, hiking, biking, rock climbing and more, all while making new friends. One of the main purposes of the NSCD camps is to have fun participating in safely designed activities, appropriate for a wide range of ability levels. Our uniquely designed camps utilize specific approaches that meet the needs of a variety of individuals with special needs. Camps fill up quickly, so be sure to make reservations early. Participants must be independent and manage self-care or bring a care-giver to provide assistance.

Special Olympics Alpine Race Camp

Get an edge on the competition, meet new friends and strengthen your racing skills. Join the NSCD for this three-day race camp for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

*If the minimum number of campers is not met 7 days prior to a camp, the camp will be canceled.
**A 2.59% Forest Service fee will be added to all lessons at Winter Park Resort on National Forest land.
Sit Ski only – Maximum weight is 200 lbs.

Spinal Cord Injury Alpine Ski Camp

Join the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) for fun on the slopes! This multi day camp is designed for participants with spinal cord injuries. Learn and build skills on the slopes of Winter Park Resort! Transportation from Denver and a group lunch is provided. Participants requiring financial support for this camp can call (303) 515-NSCD (6723).  Lodging and meals are provided at Snow Mountain ranch – YMCA of the Rockies.

After School Climbing Club

Discover the thrill of rock climbing with the NSCD’s After School Climbing Club! Designed for middle and high school students (ages 11–17), this inclusive program welcomes climbers of all abilities. Participants will learn climbing techniques, knot tying, belaying, and more, all while building confidence and skills in a supportive environment. Join us Fridays from February 7 to May 2, 2025, at Movement Gyms in Englewood and Golden. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced climber, this is your chance to reach new heights!

Adaptive Mountain Bike Camp

3 days of biking in and around Winter Park Colorado! Learn the basics of mountain biking or prefect your technique. This camp will focus on cross country mountain bike skills and exploration. NSCD has a variety of adaptive bikes to best fit your needs, including power assist hand cycles! This camp is for participants with physical disabilities such as spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, etc.

This camp would normally cost $480 but is discounted to $150 thank to a generous grant received by the NSCD!

* $480 full price. During the checkout process, the price will automatically change to $150.
If the minimum number of campers is not met 7 days prior to a camp, the camp will be canceled.
* Activities are subject to change depending on weather. Food and lodging are included.

Summer Woods Camp for Participants with a Developmental Disability

This four-day camp promotes independence and camaraderie. Laugh and learn while participating in activities such as hiking, archery, NSCD Moves, horseback riding, Lake Day Fun, fishing, and Winter Park resort activities. Campers are introduced to new skills and activities by highly trained staff. Participants who are not independent in self-care must supply a personal care provider who is available to them throughout the length of the camp. This is a day camp this summer, not an overnight camp.

* If the minimum number of campers is not met 7 days prior to a camp, the camp will be canceled.

Front Range Adventure Camp

During this camp athletes will explore the Front Range through a variety of outdoor recreation experiences including Canoeing & Kayaking, Archery, Outdoor Rock Climbing, and White-Water Paddling. At the National Sports Center for the Disabled we rethink ability through personal challenge in the enriching atmosphere of the outdoors. Through these experiences participants can learn important lessons about themselves and others, find new healthy hobbies/activities, increase their overall fitness/quality of life, and meet new friends and have fun.  

Location: Meet at Jefferson County Fairgrounds, transportation to and from the day’s venue provided. Venues vary across the Front Range depending on the day’s activity.

* Maximum water equipment weight limit is 250 lbs.
* If the minimum number of campers is not met 7 days prior to a camp, the camp will be canceled.

Therapeutic Horseback Riding Camp

Love horses? Join us for 3 days at the NSCD Therapeutic Riding Center for a camp that includes learning to groom, tack and ride a horse. New skills learned in the arena will be enhanced while out on daily trail rides. Participants who are not independent in self-care must supply a personal care provider who is available to them throughout the length of the camp.

* Maximum rider weight is 200 lbs. Horse camps are popular, register early. These are not overnight camps.
* If the minimum number of campers is not met 7 days prior to a camp, the camp will be canceled.
