Military members with a disability, active or Veteran, are welcome at all NSCD programs. Below are programs specifically designed for veterans or programs that have special pricing for military. Participants must be independent and manage self-care or bring a care-giver to provide assistance.

Military Appreciation Days

Join fellow military members every Thursday for a day of adventure and recreation. Programs include indoor rock climbing, 10M air rifle, and archery.

Military members must register in advance to participate.  

* Individuals are responsible for their own park entry fees, Disabled Veteran license plates allow free entry into state parks. Individuals are responsible for their own fishing license and bring the license with them to participate.

Military Alpine – Monthly Day Trips

The NSCD Is excited to appreciate our military members with FREE Monthly Alpine Ski trips! Available to all Veteran and Active-Duty Military service members with a disability! Transportation to and from Denver area, Equipment, Lift ticket, and lesson included! All of our military programs are underwritten through generous grants and contributions. There is a $25 registration fee for these day trips.

Pick up/Drop off Available at: Jefferson County Fairgrounds

Participants who are not independent in self-care must supply a personal care provider who is available to them throughout the length of the day. 

*$25 non-refundable registration fee will be due upon reservation. All other expenses are generously underwritten by grants and contributions.

Military Nordic/Fat Tire Bike – Monthly Day Trips

The NSCD is excited to appreciate our military members with FREE monthly Nordic Ski and Fat Tire Bike trips! These full-day adventures include a half day of Nordic skiing and a half day of Fat Tire biking, designed for Veterans and Active-Duty Military service members with a disability. Transportation from the Denver area, equipment, and lessons are included. All of our military programs are underwritten through generous grants and contributions. There is a $25 registration fee for these day trips.

*Please note: while we offer sit Nordic options, we do not currently have sit or hand Fat Tire cycles available.

Military Winter Camp

This four day camp highlights alpine skiing for military members, active or Veteran, with disabilities! Transportation from Denver, lodging and food provided. Meeting and dinner on Friday. Skiing Saturday, Sunday, and Monday morning. All of our military programs are underwritten through generous grants and contributions. There is a $25 registration fee for these day trips.

Participants who are not independent in self-care must supply a personal care provider who is available to them throughout the length of the camp.

Military Mountain Biking

Military members can find adventure on a wide variety of cross country mountain biking trails! With a fleet of fat tire and off-road recumbent mountain bikes and trained instructors, the NSCD offers opportunities for all levels — whether you’re a beginner or an experienced biker. We have a variety of hand and leg power assist adaptive cycling options and a fleet of traditional fat tire bike for off-road adventures. Our instructors help you choose the bike that fits your individual needs and will provide an adventurous experience.

Military members must register in advance to participate.  

Military Adventure Camp

This 4-day, 3-night adventure includes mountain biking, hiking, whitewater rafting and a lake day for military members, active or Veteran, with disabilities! Transportation from Denver, lodging and food provided. Space is limited to 12 participants. Participants must be independent in their own care and meet basic essential criteria to register for the camp. All of our military programs are underwritten through generous grants and contributions. Military Colorado River Rafting Experience

Experience the thrill of rafting the Upper Colorado River with the NSCD Military Veteran Program! Join fellow veterans on an unforgettable adventure, navigating exhilarating rapids and taking in stunning scenery. This program offers camaraderie, excitement, and the chance to conquer challenges together, creating lasting memories and empowering moments on the river.
