Adaptive Ski School: Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding, Ski Bike and Nordic Ski

The NSCD adaptive ski school offers a variety of private and group lessons in adaptive alpine skiing, snowboarding, ski biking, Nordic skiing and snowshoeing. Registration will open for the 2025/2026 season on October 1st.

Private Daily Lessons

Adaptive Alpine Ski, Snowboard and Ski Bike Lessons

At the NSCD, we provide private lessons with highly trained adaptive instructors. Lessons are tailored to meet the needs or goals of each individual participant. Lessons are available for two-track, three-track, four-track, slider ski, ski bike, mono-ski, bi-ski and snowboard. Individual, Family and Group lessons are available.

 *Sit Ski only – Maximum weight is 200 lbs.

*Closed December 3rd, 10th, 17th, and April 1st for staff training and events.

Individual lessons
provide one on one instruction for a participant with a NSCD instructor.

Family lessons provide an opportunity for a parent or adult to learn proper techniques for assisting the family member with special needs while on the slopes. The accompanying adult must be a proficient and independent skier or snowboarder with a skill level higher than that of the participant. Please note that this lesson is focused on teaching the family member how to assist the participant and does not include ski or snowboard instruction for the family member. One adult member with the participant maximum.

Adaptive Nordic Ski and Snowshoe Lessons

At the NSCD, we also offer a sensory-friendly alternative to downhill skiing. We can accommodate stand and sit skiers with our cross-county ski and snowshoe programs. Family lessons are also available.

Inclusion Stand Ski and Snowboard

Children ages 4 to 13 who have disabilities participate in Winter Park Resort Ski & Ride School’s Kids Lessons with an NSCD instructor. AM and Full day lessons are available.

Mountain Guide
The Mountain Guides program is specifically designed to provide independent skiers with a trained guide capable of helping with small aspects of the day and skiing process, showing the guest around the mountain, as well as providing support in the event of an emergency.

An equipment fitting appointment is required for any equipment rental. If possible, book your equipment fitting appointment the day before you want to use the equipment. Equipment rentals are subject to equipment availability. NSCD lessons take priority over equipment rentals. All equipment rentals must be paid in full at the time of the rental. A credit card deposit is also required for damaged, lost or stolen equipment. The replacement value of the equipment will be charged if the equipment is lost, stolen or severely damaged.

Grand County Special Olympics

Join the Grand County Special Olympics Team and have fun training for alpine ski or snowboard and cross-country or snowshoe racing. Have fun learning new ski racing techniques, running the gates at the practice course and skiing with teammates. Athletes times will be recorded at practice and submitted to Special Olympics. Participants must have their own equipment and be able to meet at the base of the Arrow Lift.

Athletes must register with the NSCD to compete.

Regional Competition: February 2nd at Eldora Mountain Ski Resort
State Competition: March 1st at Copper Mountain Ski Resort
Training Time: 9:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

SCI Alpine Ski Camp

Join the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) for fun on the slopes! This multi day camp is designed for participants with spinal cord injuries. Learn and build skills on the slopes of Winter Park Resort! Transportation from/to Denver, Lodging, meals, ski equipment, lift ticket and instructors are included. Military Winter Camp

This four-day camp highlights alpine skiing for military members, active or Veteran, with disabilities! Transportation from Denver, lodging and food provided. Meeting and dinner on Friday. Skiing Saturday, Sunday, and Monday morning. All of our military programs are underwritten through generous grants and contributions. There is a $25 registration fee for camps.

Women’s Ski Retreat

The NSCD Women’s retreat invites Females 18 or older for an all-inclusive 4-day camp. The price includes Travel from/to Denver, Lodging, meals, ski equipment, lift ticket and instructor for lesson.
